Fire truck gets wrapped up in multi-vehicle crash in Phoenix

Two vehicles collided at a Phoenix intersection recently, eventually sliding into a fire truck to complete the three-car wreck. The fire truck sustained quite a bit of damage, and numerous firefighters suffered injuries -- though the injuries were minor in nature.

The crash occurred because of a red light runner. One of the two SUVs that were involved ran a red light and collided with the other SUV. It is unclear which SUV ran the red light, but one of the SUVs was driven by a 28-year-old woman, while the other was carrying a family of five. The 28-year-old needed to be taken to a trauma center for her injuries. The injuries for the family of five were not as clear, with the source article stating that only a 16-year-old was taken to the hospital. The adults in the front seat of that SUV were also injured, but their condition was not released.

The crash will likely be investigated, though it doesn't seem like it would need much investigating. It seems pretty clear that someone was negligent and caused an accident by running a red light. However, this is the nature of car accident investigations. They have to be performed no matter how "simple" or "easy" it may seem to figure out the crash, and it can often take longer to complete the investigation than most people would suspect.

In many car accidents, a driver may be held responsible for his or her negligence not just in criminal court, but civil court as well. Victims of a car accident that was initiated by a negligent driver should consider their legal options, especially if the accident investigation supports their claims that another driver was reckless.
