Another street racing accident claims life in Tempe

Street racing is a big problem here in Phoenix, Arizona, as recent months have seen a number of headline-grabbing accidents that have left people dead. Another street racing accident just occurred in Tempe, leaving one person dead and injuring several others.

The crash apparently began when two vehicles began racing at speeds of more than 100 miles per hour. The street race occurred at night, making the vehicles that much harder to see. One of the vehicles ended up crossing into oncoming traffic, sparing a massive collision with multiple vehicles. However, the other vehicle that was involved in the street race fled the scene. The crash left the street racing driver, a 27-year-old man, with catastrophic injuries that proved fatal. An unknown number of people were left injured, but thankfully they are all expected to survive.

The investigation will now turn to the vehicle that fled the scene of the accident. The police will also look into the evidence left at the accident scene, as well as eyewitness testimony, to determine all of the factors that played into this wreck. Once the investigation is complete, the accident victims will have to decide if they want to pursue civil legal action.

Ultimately though, this story is about the sudden epidemic of street racing in Phoenix. Two other street racing crashes in the past few months have claimed lives in the city. Like drunk driving or distracted driving, street racing is a negligent form of driving that unnecessarily endangers the lives of innocent people on the road.
