Train, truck collide, leaving 28 people with injuries

As many Phoenix residents have probably heard by now, a bizarre and disastrous accident between a truck and a train has left many people with injuries. That's obviously the disastrous side of this story, but the bizarre part is that the truck driver not only survived the collision but also managed to flee the scene -- before getting captured about a mile from the accident scene.

The crash derailed five cars from the train and left the truck in flames. The wreck also left 28 people with injuries, and four of the victims are reportedly listed in "critical condition." There are some amazing photos in our source article of the accident scene, and there is no doubt that the police are conducting a thorough investigation of this accident.

There are a couple of things to consider here, and the first is that accidents that involve trains are, obviously, extremely serious. Just as an accident that involves a bicyclist is inherently serious because the bicyclist is at greater risk of suffering serious injury, an accident involving a train inherently carries a greater risk for injury due to the large vehicles power.

Sadly, that can lead to many people getting injured (as you can see in this story) and, even more unfortunately, people losing their lives in a train accident. For the loved ones who lose someone in a train accident, the investigation into the accident becomes very important. It could yield critical evidence that shows someone was negligent in the wreck, which could be the basis of a wrongful death lawsuit against the liable party.
