New distracted driving movement in 2014 for state of Arizona

Arizona is one of the few states that has never passed a law that bans drivers from texting while driving. We wrote about the tragic consequences of drivers who are distracted by their phones in a recent post about a fatal truck accident. The act is dangerous, plain and simple -- and even if a law is not in effect to make it clear, people should still use common sense to avoid texting while driving. You are inherently looking away from the road, often for many seconds at a time.

Another pedestrian struck, this time fatally, near Phoenix

A pedestrian was killed in Glendale, Arizona after a vehicle struck the man -- who was somewhere in his 50s -- in the middle of the road. Not much is known about the accident, but in the meantime that is what officials will try to change. An investigation is under way.

Truck driver in fatal Arizona wreck accused of checking cellphone

Earlier this year, a tragic truck accident occurred on an Arizona highway, resulting in the death of a police officer. The accident happened when a large fuel tanker, driven by a 33-year-old man, plowed into a number of police and fire vehicles that were responding to a motor vehicle accident. The question in the days that followed was "what was the truck driver doing that prevented him from avoiding the accident?"
