Study finds that any alcohol in system makes driver impaired

We've all heard the cute monikers that people throw around when they, or someone they know, are drunk. You can get a "buzz" going; sometimes people get "hammered"; and, of course, people may get "wasted" from time to time. What all of these names veil is a simple truth: the person is intoxicated, and probably to the point where they are beyond the legal limit. Getting behind the wheel of a car when you are "buzzed" or "hammered" or "wasted" is negligent and stupid. You put yourself and others at extreme risk of injury, or worse.

Arizona could be headed for a texting ban after new rule proposed

Arizona is one of the few remaining states in the U.S. that does not have some sort of ban on texting or cellphone use while driving a car. That may change if a state representative from Tucson has her way, as she proposed a state-wide ban on sending or composing a text while driving. According to the state representative, the proposed law would not apply to drivers who use hands-free technology to send or compose a text.

The police are investigating the crash, though at this time it appears no charges or arrests have been made.

Study: Bike, pedestrian deaths due to distracted driving jump

Distracted driving is often contextualized with car-on-car accidents. A driver checks his or her cellphone, loses focus of the road and, BAM, they hit another vehicle after drifting from their lane. There certainly isn't anything incorrect about this context. It happens all the time. In fact, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 3,328 people died in distracted driver accidents in 2012.

Phoenix car crash spills onto sidewalk, killing pedestrian

A freak set of circumstances led to an unfortunate accident that killed a pedestrian in Phoenix recently. The pedestrian was simply standing at the corner of an intersection when the wreck occurred. A car was trying to make a left turn at the intersection when it was struck by another vehicle. It is unclear which vehicle eventually hit the pedestrian, but the wreck spilled onto the sidewalk and hit the 37-year-old man.
