A recent motorcycle accident closed Interstate 10 in Phoenix, Arizona for hours. The wreck left one motorcyclist dead and another needing a trip to the hospital. The crash occurred in the early morning hours, and details are scarce. What is known is that four motorcycles were riding at the time of the crash, and apparently two of them fled the scene. The wreck occurred when one of the motorcyclists hit the back of a truck.

Very little is known about this crash, but the police are not ruling anything out. DUI is a potential factor, but it is not confirmed. Speed appears to have been a factor. In other words, the police are going to need some time to sort out this wreck.

It brings us back to one of the more important elements to any motor vehicle crash, and we talk about it a lot: the investigation. It is such an important factor after a crash occurs. It can aid an injured party’s case, if they are filing a lawsuit against one of the other people involved in the crash. It is also important to remember that the official report that police put together can be changed later if new matters of fact are established. This can dramatically alter how a crash is perceived, and how legal action is taken in the case.

Whether you’re a motorcycle rider of a driver of a car or SUV, remember that the legal angles of a motor vehicle accident are very important.
