Many people in Phoenix, Arizona know about actor Guy Pearce. He has been in some major movies over the last 20 years, including “Memento,” “Prometheus,” “Iron Man 3” and many other films that can’t quite make the cut here (lest we make a blog post that looks more like a Wikipedia page).
Pearce made the news recently, but not for his acting skills. Instead, he made the news because he and his wife of 18 years, Kate Mestitz decided to file for divorce. The two met in 1980 and were married in 1997, but after such a long time, it seems that the stresses of marriage finally caught up to them.
For as challenging as a divorce can be, it appears Pearce and Mestitz are handling this as well as possible. Pearce made numerous comments via social media that indicated that the two were still on good terms. Still, sometimes “good terms” are subjective, and they don’t necessarily save anyone, or any couple, from a divorce.
Sometimes, in fact, a divorce can be the best thing for a couple who are on “good terms” but simply can’t see a long-term future for their relationship, at least in it’s current form. In that context, a divorce is actually kind of a beautiful solution to a difficult problem.
Hopefully for Pearce and Mestitz, this ends up being the solution they need. For now, they will certainly have some legal matters to attend to, with property and asset division likely being an important factor.
