How your outlook on life can actually impact your driving ability

An interesting study was recently performed to test if drivers who have a negative outlook on life are more likely to be involved in a car accident. The study found that, yes, people who aren't positive and actually more likely to be involved in a car crash.

Researchers performed this study by taking 38 drivers with at least three years of driving experience and separating them into two groups based on point on their license. One group was considered "dangerous" and one was considered "safe." These two groups of drivers were then showed a bunch of images, with some of the images including positive, negative or neutral imagery. Each image had a colored border around it.

Drivers in the "dangerous" group were slower to identify the border color when shown an image with negative imagery, whereas people in the "safe" group had an easier time identifying the border color of negative images. This, researchers say, demonstrates that people with a negative outlook are more likely to get into a car crash.

Somewhat surprisingly, this isn't the first time that a study like this has been performed -- and the other study, too, established that those with a negative outlook were more likely to be involved in an accident.

A lot of factors are involved when a car accident occurs. Looking at the drivers, and their state of mind, is a crucial part of any investigation into a car crash. If it can be proven, a driver's negligence could give credence to a victim's personal injury claims.
