Child custody, property division play role in Dempsey divorce

When it comes to divorce, there are two topics that usually “take the cake” in terms of potential disagreement and emotional distress: children and finances. These are usually the two biggest factors in a divorce, no matter how amicable the splitting spouses may be. In the case of child custody, even if joint custody can be agreed to, the splitting spouses may disagree on other elements to the custody agreement (holiday time, visitation, and other factors).

Financial elements can also be a major hassle. There are marital assets to consider, as well as the assets that each spouse brings in from outside of the marriage (family assets, businesses, etc.). In addition, money just has a way of making things messy for everyone involved.

Of course, no matter who you are, there are always ways for you and your spouse to effectively work out the issues in your divorce. Being a celebrity may make it a little harder, but it can still be done. Just ask Patrick Dempsey.

The actor best known for his role on “Grey’s Anatomy,” a television show, is getting a divorce. He and his wife, Jillian Fink, are filing for divorce after 15 years of marriage. Their focus is their three children, and it appears the two of them will work towards joint custody, which is usually a good step for everyone involved.

Though divorce isn’t an inherently “happy” moment, it is still possible for the splitting spouses to work together to move on to the next chapter of their lives.
